Our Vision:
To spark a love of learning in every child through the discovery of their individual best.

As experts in early childhood and elementary school education, we know that a nurturing environment, authentic relationships and opportunities for exploration provide the necessary framework for student success, achievement and well-being.

Wonder lives in bolstering the natural curiosities of childhood

At River Valley School, we celebrate children for who they are today.

The wonder children possess is encouraged, stimulated and celebrated through our inquiry-based programming where learning is focused on big ideas and questions that engage them. We know that when a child’s curiosity is piqued, it makes for deeper, more profound learning.

Wonder lives in discovering your personal best through exposure to specialized educators and unique experiences.

Our curriculum, activities and group projects are ground in design thinking, which gives students a road map toa) identify a challenge, b) gather information, c) generate ideas, and d) test solutions. Both indoors and out, we provide conditions and ways of learning to “stretch” the students’ creative muscles, not only in Music, Art and Drama classes, but in all subjects.

Meet our Head of School

As a community, we learn and grow together respecting the values, opinions and beliefs of all students, teachers, administrators, and our parents. We work together in close partnerships to create a school where learners feel known, safe, confident. Within our supportive climate, students become joyful, passionate learners and know they are safe to try new things, make mistakes, discover new approaches, and explore innovative ways of seeing, contributing to and changing the world. We invite you to visit our school to witness the wonder.

Are we right for you?

Wonder lives in a school with adaptive, innovative and inspiring learning spaces

On December 1st 2021, River Valley School proudly finalized the purchase of our current school site at 3127 Bowwood Drive NW. This momentous achievement would not have been possible without the tremendous generosity of our donors and the tireless work by our passionate Board of Directors, Head of School and Senior Leadership Team.

With a school-owned facility secured, we are now committed to the important and transformative work ahead; to improve upon and expand this amazing campus on the Bow.
With the support of our community, we know that the possibilities are endless and the future of River Valley School is very bright.

In the Spirit of Reconciliation

We acknowledge that we live, work and play in the fields, forests and river banks on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.

Safe and Caring Community

Consistent with our mission, vision and values, River Valley School is committed to a safe, caring, respectful, inclusive, equitable and welcoming learning and teaching environment for all students, staff and members of our community!
